Mike Caldecoat

Mike was born in 1934 in the middle cottage of Kettle's Yard. His grandmother, Sarah Caldecoat, who had 13 children, owned all three cottages as well as 19 Northampton Street opposite, where the family moved when he was one year old. She also ran a sweet shop nearby within what is now the Cambridge Folk Museum. In his interview, he describes the area as he was growing up before most of it was redeveloped. Mike died in August 2009.
